THE DEAD SEA SQUIRRELS Are Alive!

Valentine’s Day is a day set aside for love. So it’s fitting debut day for a brand-new series that your kids are absolutely going to love—any day of the year.

THE DEAD SEA SQUIRRELS is the new animated series from Mike Nawrocki, the co-creator of VeggieTales—and the voice of Larry the Cucumber. You can watch it now on the subscription-steaming service Minno.

Mike, the man who brought you “Silly Songs With Larry,” brings to life  2,000-year-old squirrels named Merle and Pearl.

“So we have two squirrels from the first century alive in the 21st century who help (their new friend) Michael and his friends as they go through problems that 10-year-old kids go through,” Mike told Alita Reynolds on the Faith Film Fan Podcast. The squirrels share “stories from the New Testament and the life of Jesus and the disciples.”

The animated series is based on Mike’s young reader book series of the same name. The 12-book series birthed the 13-episode first season of THE DEAD SEA SQUIRRELS. Each episode is about 30-minutes long.

“I think grade school kids are going to really appreciate this. I think younger preschool kids will also like it, but it’s not necessarily a preschool show,” Mike says. “It’s more geared toward a little bit older grade school kids.”

Music plays a big part in the program as well, helping shepherd Micheal, his friends, and viewers back to biblical times with Merle and Pearl.

“Matthew West has joined us. Ellie Holcomb, Mac Powell, just really amazing singers that have graciously come on board to be part of the project,” Mike says. “It’s been amazing to see how God has orchestrated this whole thing and put it together in a way that I could never have dreamed of or imagined. But it’s just really, really neat to see it all come together!”
