Jon Erwin has been a trailblazer in the faith entertainment space. From turning the success of I CAN ONLY IMAGINE into a studio deal with Lionsgate for Kingdom Story Company to founding The Wonder Project and creating THE HOUSE OF DAVID for the streaming platform, Jon has proven to be a visionary creative.
Now, his efforts are catching the eye of the overall entertainment industry. The LA Times interviewed Jon Erwin as part of a bigger-picture story about the future of the industry and how AI can serve the process
The story could not start out any more impressively:
“In 1926, director Cecil B. DeMille hired hundreds of workers to build a set of Jerusalem inside the DeMille Studios in Culver City for the classic silent film ‘The King of Kings.’ A century later, Jon Erwin filmed his biblical epic ‘The Old Stories: Moses,’ starring Ben Kingsley, on the same studio lot now owned by Amazon MGM Studios. Except now, much of the architecture, desert location, and supernatural parts of the three-episode miniseries were generated through artificial intelligence.”
The Wonder Project is highlighting THE OLD STORIES: MOSES as a prequel to HOUSE OF DAVID. The show is already rolling out on the streaming service.
In a recent online article, Peter Chattaway shares how quickly the show came together, thanks to the inclusion of AI technologies.
“So, the basic timeline:
- December—Erwin conceives the idea over Christmas
- January—Erwin writes the script, gets the greenlight from Amazon
- January or February or March—Erwin shoots the series in one week
- March—Wonder Project releases the trailer
- May—Wonder Project releases the series”
As a Faith Film Fan, we’d encourage you to read both articles to dive deeper into a creative from our space harnessing the power of AI and what that means for faith and general entertainment.
Oh, and be sure to let us know in the comments what you think of the mini-series THE OLD STORIES: MOSES.
