Sometimes, it takes a lifetime to figure out the reason we were put on this earth. For David, the teenage shepherd boy we meet in The Wonder Project\u2019s new series House Of David<\/strong><\/a>, <\/strong>the search is short \u2026 and successful.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShow me a purpose. Show me who I am,\u201d David pleads heavenward. God answers in this action-packed series, available now on Amazon Prime Video. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Episode 60 of the Faith Film Fan Podcast<\/a>, House Of David<\/strong> director Jon Erwin\u2014known for I Can Only Imagine, Jesus Revolution,<\/strong> Moms\u2019 Night Out, <\/strong>and Woodlawn<\/strong>\u2014shares with host Rick Altizer what inspired him to create this show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe quest to the story of David was started when I was 16 years old,\u201d Jon says. \u201cI went to Israel with my dad and stayed in the old city of Jerusalem. The Bible came to life in a way that was unbelievable to me. I remember going to King David’s tomb and it was just amazing. That\u2019s where it started.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

House Of David <\/strong>was filmed in the lush landscape of Greece. From the first episode, viewers are instantly drawn into the spectacle of the giant Goliath, his challenger David, the vast Philistine army, cunning King Saul, and the ancient prophet Samuel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGod uses complicated, flawed people,\u201d Jon says. \u201cThat\u2019s the theme of House Of David<\/strong>. I feel like a part of it. I feel like I fail much more than I succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With eight episodes and close to 700 people working on it, House Of David<\/strong> was a mammoth undertaking by Jon Erwin, co-creator Jon Gunn, and The Wonder Project. \u201cIt was like making multiple movies all at once,\u201d Erwin says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the series, Michael Iskander portrays young King David. \u201cI think Michael shines in the role,\u201d Erwin says. \u201cAnd the confrontation with David and Goliath is something I\u2019ll take with me for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David finds his purpose with the help of Samuel: \u201cYou have the heart of a lion. What do lions do? Roar!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
