The full-length documentary begins as archaeologists unearth an 1800-year-old strip of papyrus in Egypt and discover it has both lyrics and musical notations. The movie then takes you on an amazing historical journey into the song and the origin of the music of the faith.
THE FIRST HYMN follows this ancient song from its desert origins to its rediscovery today. As the story unfolds, Chris Tomlin and Ben Fielding reimagine the melody for modern worship, leading to the live concert performance you just watched.
