With House Of David one of the most-watched programs on Amazon Prime and The Chosen Season 5 now exclusively showing on that streamer, there no longer seems to be a question of whether faith-based shows can do well in mainstream media.
The question has become: What’s next?
Amazon and The Chosen creator Dallas Jenkins just answered resoundingly with Joseph Of Egypt, a new program from Jenkins’ 5&2 Studios.
A recent story in Variety shares that Jenkins will not be the primary creative behind the show. Instead, Craig Wright will be the writer and executive producer of Joseph. According to Variety:
“Wright is no stranger to religious dramas, as he previously created the successful OWN series ‘Greenleaf,’ which was set at a Memphis megachurch.”
In fact, according to an earlier Hollywood Reporter story, Wright not only writes about faith topics, he also has his seminary degree and was an associate pastor before switching to writing full time.
While it would be wonderful to encourage you to tune in to see Joseph, the reality is the show is still in development. We will keep you updated when it goes into production and then when it will be available to watch.
